In the heart of Ceres, Mandela Day 2025 was marked by meaningful action and heartfelt community spirit. The morning began with a 6.7km walk through Bella Vista, with participants from local schools, civic leaders, Chrysalis Academy, community safety, and retired educators — all stepping out to honour Madiba’s legacy.

The Khoi San E Foundation (KSEF), led by Founder Errica Adams, donated blankets as part of the day’s warm-hearted outreach. Some were handed over to Old Mutual, the official event organisers, for distribution to institutions in need. Others were delivered personally by KSEF to Ceres Hospital, where senior nursing staff guided handovers to the most vulnerable patients in several wards. Blankets were also shared with Steinthal School, with photos to follow.

The build-up to Mandela Day included tree-planting ceremonies and sustainability education — all quietly and efficiently coordinated by Deidre Coetzee, who played a vital role in bringing together the moving parts behind the scenes.

To everyone who participated — from drummies and drivers to nurses, retired headmasters, and young learners — thank you for living the spirit of Ubuntu.

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” — Nelson Mandela
